WHO’S THE DIET COACH?
I’ve always been active. Running ½ marathons, weight training, and body building, teaching aerobic dance classes, hiking mountains – I just love to move! I did have some health issues growing up. They included things like inner ear infections, constant runny nose, painful monthly cramps, and acne to name a few. In the 1980’s I was exposed to some compelling information on how food can have a huge impact on how you feel. I made some dramatic changes then and immediately started feeling better. Just about everything cleared up. I had found the magic bullet. Just eat healthy food and the body will heal itself. Great!
My life changed in 2002. My husband and I moved to another country and we got very busy building our business. My diet also changed dramatically from healthy to horrible. I wasn’t feeling as great as I did previously. I didn’t pay much attention to the acne that reappeared, the runny nose that had come back and the painful monthly cramps that returned.
In 2006 I was given a breast cancer diagnosis! Now I was really scared. I knew I had to make some lifestyle changes if I was going to heal myself. That meant starting with eating foods that my body needed. I learned to cook amazing meals that not only looked great but tasted delicious. Slowly my body started to return the favor by giving me my life back. I’m extremely happy to say that I’m cancer free and have never felt better.
This experience inspired me to find out more about how food affects our bodies. I decided to get educated. I’m currently a graduate of nutrition studies at Cornell University, I’m a member of the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine, have lectured and taught cooking classes and do personal counseling to people who, like me, just wanted their life back.
